TIPS ON TRAVELLING

Vehicle tips

  • Valid Third Parties Insurance is imperative, to be obtained at the border post.  Cost for insurance R150.00 and for a trailer R80.00

  • All South African vehicles must have a ZA sticker on them, as well as a yellow triangle on a blue background displayed on them.

  • Watch out for areas where there is a solid white line as officials also like to fine the tourist when one or two wheels – especially on the wide trailers, - go over the middle line.

  •  A vehicle may tow a trailer with up to two axles provided the length of the vehicle and trailer is 13m, but the length must not exceed 19m.  The width of the trailer may be 2.6m and the trailer can be 4m high.
